Project Details

Client: Telford and Wrekin Council

Service Provided: Sign & Street Furniture Cleaning

Completion Date: July 2024

Project Overview

We were appointed to deliver a large-scale programme of road sign cleaning across Telford, working in partnership with the local council.

The project formed part of a wider initiative to improve road safety and overall visual standards throughout the area. By aligning our works with planned road closures, we ensured the programme was delivered safely and with minimal disruption to the public.

Our Scope of Works

Our team was responsible for the cleaning and restoration of approximately 1,500–2,000 road signs across Telford. This included directional signs, regulatory signs, warning signs, and local information boards.

Each sign was treated to remove dirt, algae, traffic film, and general surface wear, significantly improving clarity and visibility for road users.

Methods & Approach

We worked closely with council partners and traffic management teams to integrate our cleaning schedule into their planned road closures. This allowed us to operate safely at the roadside while reducing inconvenience to drivers. Using cleaning solutions, water fed poles, and pressure washers, we ensured all signs were cleaned efficiently and in accordance with highway safety protocols. Our team followed strict on-site safety procedures and adapted our approach to suit different locations and sign types.

Project Outcome

The project successfully restored thousands of road signs to a clean and highly visible standard, enhancing both road safety and the overall appearance of key routes throughout Telford. By coordinating works with the council’s closures, we delivered the programme efficiently and without unnecessary disruption. The result was a noticeable improvement to the local streetscape and safer, clearer guidance for the community’s road users.
