Project Overview
This project formed part of a major £4.9 million redevelopment delivered by Morris Property for North Staffordshire YMCA. Over a 21-month construction period, the site was transformed into Hope Court, a new complex of 46 “transitional housing” apartments designed to support young people as they begin careers and move toward independent living.
The apartments form an extension to the existing YMCA youth campus in Hanley, which currently supports more than 100 young people. The new facilities provide bright, modern, fit-for-purpose living spaces, complete with individual kitchens, bathrooms, and south-facing aspects where possible. Integrated solar panels further enhance the site’s energy efficiency.
With handover approaching, we were brought in just two weeks before project completion after previous cleaning contractors failed to meet the required standards.
Our Scope of Works
To bring the development up to handover condition, we delivered a comprehensive cleaning package, including:
- Full builders clean across all 46 apartments, communal areas, and shared facilities
- Sparkle clean to prepare rooms and corridors for final inspection
- Internal and external window cleaning
- High-level cleaning via MEWP, ensuring safe and thorough cleaning of elevated glazing and external building elements
Our work covered apartments, communal laundry areas, stairwells, lift lobbies, plant rooms, and external façades.
Project Outcome
The site was handed over on schedule, with all accommodation units and communal spaces cleaned to a professional, move-in-ready condition. High-level windows were cleaned, interior finishes were left presentable, and the building was prepared for final inspection.
Our involvement helped ensure Hope Court was ready to take its place as a key part of the YMCA’s community-driven campus, offering safe, modern, energy-efficient accommodation for young people in need of stability and support.
